Legal News: FTC Announces Rule Banning Most Noncompete Clauses

April 23, 2024 | Labor and Employment

Today, the Federal Trade Commission issued a final rule banning the use of noncompete clauses nationwide. The final rule bans new noncompete agreements for all workers and requires companies to let current and past employees know they won’t enforce any previous noncompete agreement they have signed in the past. Companies will also have to throw out existing noncompete agreements for most employees,  although the agreements for senior executives may remain in effect.
